RDRLS HAWAII WA'A LLC is a company that supports the development, training, education and culture of paddling and building canoes. The (RDRLS) abbreviated stands for "RUDDERLESS" which is also referred to as V1, VA'A, or Tahitian Canoe. The idea behind this company is to use the V1 as a tool to put paddlers in Hawaii back on a more competitive level, while learning the history and education of canoes.

Master Canoe Carver David Kalama is doing patch-work on Manuiwa, A Hawaiian Koa Canoe that has been in the family for over 100+ years. David Kalama is apart of a legacy of canoe builders, Joseph "Stew" Kalama, his father is credited with the start of Hui Wa'a and is well known for his innovation and expertise in canoe building and paddling. The Kalama Legacy of 150+ years in Canoe Carving continues till this day and age.
